The Lost World: The Life and Death of Dinosaurs
American Museum of Natural History, New York City, NY
MDA designed this 10,000 sq. ft. traveling exhibition, first installed at the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The exhibition featured the first public display of models from the movie The Lost World: Jurassic Park and forty newly-discovered dinosaur specimens, many of which had never been on view in North America.
Interactive elements included a fossil “Dig Pit,” actual touch fossils, and computer and media on the life of dinosaurs. Videos contrasted scientific theories on behavior with the ideas presented in the movie; in an isolated theater, Jeff Goldblum explores theories of extinction.
The exhibit, including the custom theatrical lighting and special effects was designed, fabricated and installed in an eleven week period. MDA was responsible for conceptual through final design, coordination of all sculptors, media consultants and fabrication services. We worked closely with the Museum staff to assure a five-day installation.
