George Washington on Horse

Various Exhibits from the Museum's Collections

The Harvard Museum of Natural History, Cambridge, MA

MDA principal David Seibert has worked at HMNH since 1999 in both staff and consultant capacities to design and implement new interpretive exhibits and related architectural renovations.

Projects include exhibitions on butterflies (Butterfly on the Wing), dinosaur eggs (Hatching the Past), Harvard’s historic collections (Treasures), tourmalines (Romancing the Stone), climate change (Our Global Experience), arthropods (Creatures that Rule), reinterpretation and renovations to the Glass Flowers gallery, graphic updates to the invertebrate paleontology and minerals exhibits, and a traveling exhibition on the origins of life.

Working closely with Museum education and exhibits department staff, MDA personnel designed and also managed the fabrication/installation process. A component of each exhibition has highlighted Harvard’s current research and academic work related to the topic. MDA personnel have worked closely with University curators, professors and graduate students to develop the storylines, define content and acquire research, and involve University Departments in presenting current state-of the art research as part of the installation.
