Mark III Missle

Cold War Gallery

National Museum of the United States Navy, Washington, DC

At the museum’s entry, a Mark III bomb angles menacingly overhead underscoring the constant threat of nuclear annihilation that was central to the Cold War. This central gallery provides an overview and conceptually links the future north gallery with its focus on technology and the global presence to the south gallery which explores the hot wars of Korea and Vietnam.

MDA, contracted to Design & Production, managed the exhibit, graphic, and lighting design from program and content development through construction drawings. Special requirements included designing for occasional flooding.
